2009年6月23日，他因顛覆國家政權罪而正式被拘捕。

2009年12月23日，他被提堂聆訊。

2009年12月25日，他被判11年徒刑及剝奪政治權利2年。這是他第3次被擲進黑獄。

劉曉波博士成為諾貝爾和平獎得主

2010年10月8日，劉曉波博士獲得諾貝爾和平獎。諾貝爾獎評審委員會表示，這個獎是對他長期及非暴力地爭取中國國內基本人權的肯定。

The arrest of Doctor Liu Xiaobo

On 8 December 2008, he was detained for his participation with Charter 08.

On 23 June 2009, he was formally arrested on suspicion of "inciting subversion of state power."

On 23 December 2009, he was put in front of the court.

On 25 December 2009, he was sentenced to eleven years' imprisonment and two years' deprivation of political rights. It was his 3rd prison term.

The winner of Nobel Peace Prize

On 8 October 2010, he was awarded the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize. The Nobel Prize Committee announced that it was for "his long and non-violent struggle for fundamental human rights in China."
